TRAVELLER's NOTES*: Both beaches are breathtaking! Powder white
sand and crystal clear waters. There are lots of
beautiful fishes who follow you along as you walk
in the refreshing waters.
On Megano beach (pictured above), the busiest beach,
not crowded, that is the beach with the bar you
will be served by Angel or Joel (aka Joe Pesci),
he bares a remarkable resemblance. No matter what
you order and how many items, he will find you
where ever you have parked your butt on that beach
and not an item will be missing.

The beach is quite extensive with a sandbar at one
point which we were able to walk over to with
the camera. The water on the sand bar is warm
as it is only about three feet and full of Starfish.
There is also a small sunken barge which is home
to a colourful fishes and Manta ray who gives
all the snorkellers a wink. When there is no tide
the sandbar is fully visible with no water and
it is heaven to walk on.
Around 11:00 a.m. there is either a fierce game of
Volleyball or Football by the beach and anyone can
join in. There are Hobbie Cats and the guys will take
you out as far as you want to go. There are also other
water craft that you can use on your own and don’t
worry, if you go to far and you can’t get back
there is a rescue vehicle.
Off the main boardwalk, the beach now has an expanded
beach bar and a separate brand new snack bar which
serves fresh made burgers, thin crust pizza, and grilled
chicken breast sandwiches. Beach volleyball has been
moved further back as the resort has built more palapas
in its original location. At the other end of the beach
by another boardwalk you will find a new mini-bar between
the 2-palapas where Mario and Rogelio are busy making
drinks and taking care of guests. Both beaches at the
resort have brand new comfortable Italian build sunbeds
that have replaced the plastic one and there are many
of them as you don't have to worry about reserving
them. Reserving sunbeds/palapas is not allowed at the
resort and is enforced.
My favorite beach which I walked along a few afternoons
was Ensenachos Beach (pictured below). It is virtually
deserted as there is no bar on the beach but it is
almost a 1.5 km walk one way. The water here
I found to be warmer and though it is clear there is
some sea weed, although they clean the seaweed. This
beach leads to the Royal Suites Villa Section so if
you do not want to walk back along the beach there
is a paved roadway where you can walk between the mangroves
or simply flag a golf cart. You may need a permission
to enter the Royal Suites grounds and request a tour.
Ensenachos Beach is 1.5 km it is
the longest beach of Cayo Ensenachos, it starts just
on the other side of Seafood restaurant and leads to
Royal Suites. Megano Beach is slightly over 1 km. long
and has a sandbar during low tide that is a pleasure
to walk on.
THE ROYAL HIDEAWAY, ROYAL SPAS, ROYAL SUITES
POOLS were
beautiful and its areas beautifully landscaped. The
pools were a little cool but refreshing, since pools
in the Caribbean are not heated. The Snack bar at the
pools were elegant with white linen table cloths, dishes
and silverware.
The food choices were for everyone and very tasty.
Pool bars were great since there are more choices
compared to beach bar, especially better drinks from
the blender. Spa section pool was quiet and more mature
landscaping. Hideaway section pool has activities going
but it is still fairly quiet for relaxation. Our favorite
side for lunch was the Spa Pool Snack Bar. Good food
and beautiful matured gardens. Paradise!
**ATTENTION** On both beaches you will find starfishes. These beautiful creatures are alive and die when exposed to air. For respect to marine life, do not take them out of the water. This applies to any other marine species. Remember there are fines of over $300 if you get caught in your luggage, corals and other marine species. Be respectful. It will be a shame to see these species disappear, leave it for others on vacation to enjoy the beautiful marine life for years to come.
